Prince Demando has declared war against Earth. This will, naturally, be RPed and shared IC with others but I just want to let the muns know, so you guys aren’t caught by surprise.
This is NOT the plot we were going to start next, this is something that emerged naturally from Rubeus fury’s.
What does that mean? I am not sure yet, no one is. But everyone should be aware that things are going down.
Sailor Pluto watched the scene unfold in front of her as if in slow motion. Just like that, after a heartbreaking battle, after spoken words of sorrow and loneliness he was gone and had been destroyed by his own pain.
If that wasn’t symbolic enough what else would be? Rubeus was there, in front of her eyes, laying lifeless, covered in blood and gruesome wounds, his insides thorn and his soul ripped. The personification of her fears for that whole year. The personification of everything she fought against and everything she would be if she did not have people there for her.
She kneeled by his side touching whatever Cosmos wasn’t desperately holding. Horribly fascinating. She couldn’t help herself. He, what she saw of him now, could easily be herself. She was barely getting strong again. He was not different from her and she felt for his pain intensely.
“I was too late for you.” She murmured to herself. They had lost the battle. Even if they won the war the deaths of Jadeite, Zoisite, Rubeus and so many others would meant they lost everything.
They had failed Rubeus. The perfect world so “full of love” (a love that Setsuna herself barely experienced) had let him down to the point he planned his own death… A Fury wouldn’t kill its host would it? Not if the host hadn’t allow it.
She was going to say something, but before she could tell Cosmos to get a hold of herself she saw a blast of ice being sent towards her partner in duty. Without blinking Sailor Pluto jumped in Cosmos defense and hadn’t the blast been thrown by such an emotional Berthier it could have hit them.
“Let go of him now.” She murmured in Cosmos ear physically unwrapping the other from Rubeus and taking Cosmos away from him. Sailor Pluto felt bad for Cosmos guilt, but the look in Berthier’s face, the way Cosmos had unleashed that Fury told her she shouldn’t be there holding him.
And the look in Berthier’s eyes terrified Pluto. As well as her words of revenge.
If she hadn’t felt her body so weak, if she hadn’t lost so much blood and if she hadn’t used so much power, she would have been able to quickly shift to the other side and try to block the fury from Rubeus. Even if it could be useless, even if it seemed stupid, even if it could cost her life. Sailor Juno froze in place, she was so close to the Fury feeling Demando’s shoot so close to her cold skin. But she didn’t move, she couldn’t and all the voices she couldn’t hear them.
It’s long sharp finger blades penetrated his chest, right where her tears had soaked his shirt moments before. So easily, so fast the monster ended his life in front of her eyes. Juno stopped breathing, her heart stopped beating, her mind went black and she couldn’t feel her body.
Her horror face kept looking down at Rubeus’ lifeless body. The fury was dead and he vanished, Cosmos threw herself on his body and tried to heal his wounds, Berthier tried to blast her Pluto pulled her away. But Juno did not move. She fell on the floor, landing hard on her knees and just staring at him. Her wound kept bleeding, tainting the floor. Her blood, running on the floor started mixing with his.
Juno blinked, finally. The image of A.L.1 penetrating his body, the sound the blade made against his flesh, the smell of all his blood suddenly sprouting from his insides. Over and over again.
Her face suddenly changed to a furious one, her hands turned into tight fists and after a hard punch against the concrete, she faced Berthier and got up. ”WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING?!” She yelled furiously at the woman. She had to leave, she couldn’t deal with that right now. Tears did not run down from her eyes yet.
”DON’T FUCKING START BLAMING HER BERTHIER. ARE YOU GOING TO ATTACK ME AS WELL, IT’S MY FAULT TOO. ARE YOU GOING TO BLAST AT YOURSELF?!” Sailor Juno looked down at his body and turned around, giving her back to the rest of the group and started running away. The pain from her leg was unbearable but not as much as the pain and weight she felt in her chest. She left blood footsteps behind.
For the longest time she simply lay in the floor. She heard the sounds, and the voices, she felt the energy around her, but she could not get up. Her bright blue eyes focused on one and one person alone. Rubeus.
She just needed to rest a bit. Soon she’d have enough energy to teleport herself and him away from there. But she couldn’t now. In a minute or two and…
“RUBEUS!” She yelled of the top of her lungs as those claws ripped Rubeus’ chest. “NO! NO!” She tried to get up but she was shaking. Shaking desperately. There was blood everywhere, blood starting to stain her own laying body and all she could do was continue shaking and laying in his warm blood. So warm just like him. His blood was starting to warm her cold and shaky body.
She looked again - she hadn’t realized she turned away as his insides has been exposed - and as her eyes rest in Cosmos’ disgusting figure holding him she felt as if she ws going to vomit. If anyone stabbed Rubeus in the chest after the Fury had ripped him like that it wouldn’t seem so outrageous and humiliating as what Cosmos did.
She got up slowly, her eyes full of vivid RAGE. She knew he wasn’t dead. She knew he would come back at some point - she hadn’t left him alone and he wouldn’t leave her alone either, he hated traitors and he wouldn’t ba one. - and she did not want him to know his body was polluted by that woman after she had been the one responsible for his death.
She blasted towards Cosmos and if it hadn’t been by the infamous Pluto she would have hit her. Berthier was livid.
“Always having to be the martyr.” She almost spit those words. “Tsk, tsk. Do you really think your arms are going to be the last ones to hold him? You killed him. You kill everything you touch. Go away before you make more of a fool of yourself. Go away NOW!” She screamed.
JunJun’s words made her laugh. Laugh desperately. The kid actually though she could go away. Berthier teleported straight in front of JunJun gripping in her neck tightly, her freezing hands starting to freeze Juno’s body as well. Dark Water Full Power slowly taking over her body. As soon as Rubeus’ body disappeared she’d make everyone freeze to death too.
“I have no problem killing each and every one who hurt him Sailor Juno.” She spoke with a smile. “I have nothing to live for now. You and that rat took everything I lived for. There never existed anything before him to me, there will never be anything after him.”
“He wished you never would come.”
That was something he already knew: he really was not good at granting people’s wishes.
So close and yet, no time for a sigh of relief, no time to think ‘we made it’. This happened before, how many times already? And yet the feelings were the same. The breaking noise inside his chest, the sudden cold is his whole body were the same. And yet he couldn’t move nor yell.
Always a witness when it came to losing people he cared for.
Promises were broken like thin glass.
His old one, to find a place for the Black Moon clan to live. Sailor Moon one’s. Rubeus’s one. And the one he just made to Berthier. In a single instant.
Demando stared wide-eyed for long, agonizing seconds. He didn’t realized how he screamed Rubeus’s name. Always a witness, even to his own actions.
No. It had to stop.
He was not supposed to let his feelings go like Hikari or this kid were able to, even if he wanted to. His shaking legs wouldn’t let him fall. His eyes were dry and probably always would be. Because he was a prince, and he was supposed to be stronger than that.
He slowly walked until he could kneel to Rubeus’s side, not really listening to what happened around him. This happened before the day he lost his brother; the way he knelt, the weight on his arms when he lifted Rubeus’s body, the maddening noise in his head and chest. The same cold feeling in his throat threatening to choke him.
Was it his curse? Life after life - To see his dearest ones die before his own eyes, to be the last one standing around corpses he could only hold close a few moment before they disappeared into nothing? It was too cruel. Even to make him pay for everything he did, this was… too cruel.
This time however, there wasn’t any home to go back, so instead Demando teleported Rubeus to his own place. He couldn’t do much more and there was still things to take care of here. Part of him admitted bitterly that he also didn’t want to see Senshi mourning him. Selfishly. This is my turn now, don’t pretend to understand. Don’t pretend to care about him like I do.
Standing was a difficult task. Walking was even worth. Deprived of magic, his whole body was screaming to rest. But he had to join Berthier and he did, as fast as he could, as softly as he could. He put a hand on her wrist; not trying to force her to let go, not flinching when touching the ice - or at least trying to.
“Enough, Berthier.” if his face didn’t show it, his shaking voice betrayed the emotions sealed deep inside him. “… Enough.”
His other hand covered Berthier’s eyes and gently but firmly guided her against him. A gesture he couldn’t really explain. Maybe an older brother’s reflex. [It’s okay. Don’t look if you don’t want to. Cry, nobody will see.]
“It’s over. We will have our revenge. And then, we will have him back. But not today. Not this way. Please.” then he added, in a sigh only her could hear, “You are not alone.”
His blood was singing too, and more than anything he wanted to made someone pay, anyone, an eye for an eye. But in his state, it would be meaningless. In Berthier’s too. There would just be more loss for the Black Moon clan, and nothing would be gained.
Now, the way things were supposed to be was clear. Clouded by sadness and anger, but clearer than ever. When he turned to face Sailor Pluto (and only her; he couldn’t face Cosmos, not yet, he didn’t know how to react.) his eyes were burning.
“You know what this means, don’t you? Tell it to your Queen” and it was the first time since years, since they left Nemesis for the first time, that his voice carried no infatuation when talking about her, “Since she is so good at hidding when she is needed.
Tell her this means war.
This fight was not ours, this was your enemy. Rubeus died because you were not able to do your duty as an army. He shouldn’t have been targeted in the first place. If it was a mere human, I bet all the other senshi would be here? Sailor Moon would be here too with her crystal and her almighty power and it would be over in a blink. Everyone would have returned home safely and forget about this.”
His voice was growing stronger and stronger with rage, disdain and much more he couldn’t contain anymore - breaking his usual cold mask.
“But if it is for one of us! She doesn’t even show, nobody does, and see what happens!
We paid our debt to Earth, we died once for our sins alread. This time, we only wanted to live in peace! But if we can’t, you won’t either. This I can promise you.
You will pay for what happened. Your selfish comrades and leaders, your people, your entire little planet will. This meaningless truth is over.”
An eye for an eye - and Rubeus’s life was worth way more than that.
Now he had to focus, gather what little power he still had to teleport Berthier and him out of here.
The familiar warmth was quickly leaving Rubeus’s body. Cosmos clutched him tighter with her deluded hope of warming the corpse with her body.
In swift moments, it was taken from her grasp as the Time Guardian made her when she saved the traumatized senshi from Berthier’s vengeful attack. “Noo.. Don’t protect me..” She uttered mostly to herself. Once they settled upon a safe distance from the woman’s wrath, Cosmos covered her blood streak face with her hands and quietly sobbed.
Berthier’s words held some truth to them making Cosmos wished that she was struck by the darkwater attack. She wished to endure all the physical pain that she felt she deserved. For all the pain in her heart made her wish that it was she who had been killed. Now, the senshi were now involved in this mess, putting their lives at risk as well. It was all her fault.
Demando.. He was declaring war against this populace. Against the White Moon Family. Not this. Not Rubeus’s death. Not this war too. Sailor Cosmos faded away. She.. Hikari could not want to fight the clan. Especially the Prince. Anything but that. With her broken heart, she desired to take the fall than have all the senshi involved. But he wouldn’t face her like she struggled to face him.
Her strained voice spoke up before the Nemesians could teleport away. “Please.. Please not them. Not the planet. ..Demando. I know.. I failed you. I promised you that I was going to help your clan. I promised to save him. And I failed. Please! Punish me instead! But leave the senshi out of this. This is not their doing. Only my own.” The woman crawled away from Pluto and to his feet, offering her vulnerable self for the killing. As she looked up from the ground, her glassy eyes saw the rage that threatened to lash out at them.
She painfully pleaded. “It’s his blood on my hands. I woke the fury. Now it’s my turn. I should not exist.” No good came from her return to this world. It was best for her to be gone. Her eyes clenched shut and then she lowered her head to the ground. Waiting..
The visit of the museum of feels continues as you enter another room:
“And that little pile of dust to your left is what remains of my dying heart at the end of May 21th.”
Sailor Pluto was expecting a strong reaction from the Fury but certainly not that. She was amazed by how it easily got rid of her orb. They were screwed. She had a bad feeling about why the Fury wanted Rubeus body.
Demando and Berthier were sent out of the way and she cursed under her breathe for having stepped out of the way to fight. She couldn’t get close to the unconscious man anymore.
Mimicking Demando she blasted her own series of attacks. Chronos Typhoon. They needed to get rid of that creature.
Juno smiled when she saw her attack harm the Fury, but it didn’t do much, only some horrible blood start puring from him. His attack wasn’t as fast now, but Juno was now exhausted, had lost too much blood and felt powerless. She couldn’t dodge the attack, which made her fly across the air and falling hard on her back. ”FUCK!” She yelled hitting her fist against the floor. Her green eyes watched as Berthier and Demando were thrown away. Suddenly tears started falling from her eyes. Was this it? She was starting to lose her hope, she was desperate, she wanted to destroy this Fury and make Rubeus better. But was this the end for all of them.
Before Pluto attacked, Juno jumped from her spot in tears and starting running to where Rubeus’ body was. She didn’t care how dangerous it was, all she wanted was to save him and the rest. She was very tired and her wound hurt so much as blood kept running down her body. Sailor Juno threw herself on top of Rubeus’ body and buried her face against his chest for a moment, soaking his clothes with her tears. ”STOP IT! STOP IT! STOP IT!” She cried as she stood up , spreading her arms and legs, blocking the Fury from Rubeus with her own. She didn’t matter any more. She needed him to be ok. ” I WON’T LET YOU HAVE HIM!” She yelled at the monster, she still wasn’t sure why the monster wouldn’t let him but she was going to sacrifice herself if she had to stop him. Her legs were shaking, she was scared but she watched the Fury get closer to her without flinching.
She held his body as if the most precious possession she had ever held in her arms. Over and over again she repeated “We are going to save you”. Before she could regain herself, however, her body was thrown away from him. She felt her back hitting the concrete. She felt her mind getting hazed. It hurt. Severely. But she refused to give in. She couldn’t give in yet. But she had no strength to fight.
She watched as Juno threw her body on top of Rubeus. Idiotic girl. She was going to get hit too. She watched Cosmos crying. A satisfactory smile played in her lips for a moment. She needed to suffer for killing all of them. Destroying all of them. Breaking their spirits.
Berthier finally stood up again, shaking, not knowing where she had gathered so much energy. She gathered her energy again. Preparing to blast and directing another attack at the Fury. As soon as she did it Berthier fell completely on the floor. There was no energy left in her body. Her eyes remained opened. She’d fight hard against passing out. She wouldn’t.
“Demando-sama…” She cried softly. “Save him… please… don’t…let him…die.”
That kid. Berthier. Did they care that much about Rubeus?
Ah… that’s how things should have been. How he should have reacted in the very beginning, by showing how much he cared. How simple. How unfortunate.
Things seemed so easier when the threads of consciousness threatened to break and let his mind and vision fade to black. Voices around him sounded weaker and weaker and with them, good, the pain was going away too. Voices. Noisy voices. Berthier’s voice.
Demando’s eyes opened widly, consciousness and pain running back everywhere in his body. He only passed out for a few seconds, though it felt like hours in his mind.
Berthier had been tossed away just like him. She used so much strenght and will in this fight. Way more than him.
“I won’t.” he promised - and for the first time, as a prince, he wasn’t sure if he would be able to keep that promise.
He slowly stood up, only to see the young senshi’s attempt at protecting Rubeus. How simple. How foolish.
But she was protecting a member of his clan. His family. He could try and help her if it was for this sake.
“You…” he shooted back at the creature, with a new blast of his energy to prevent its attack “… will not have him!”
His power was so weak and he wouldn’t last long. He hated it. That empty feeling, that realization that his magic had a limit, how it hurt everywhere to make him stop. Power was everything. Everything he had.
Without it, he was…
Useless. He couldn’t hear him. This was useless.
Another blast of his magic and third eye combined. The last thread of his powers.
Useless. He would die trying anyways. He would die before realizing how useless it was.
“YOU CAN’T LET THAT THING TALK FOR YOU THIS WAY!” he would at least die without his regrets,
“YOU CAN’T LEAVE THIS WAY!
YOU PROMISED! YOU PROMISED YOU WOULD BE BY MY SIDE UNTIL THE END! WE DIDN’T COME HERE FOR THIS - WE CAME TO FIND OUR HAPPINESS!”
And they didn’t.
Even though so many blasts were being hurled at the creature, it could feel the ever growing exhaustion of his opponents. Unfortunately these blasts were hitting too close for A.L.1’s comfort. In his attempts to protect it’s disfigured face, he lost track of the green Senshi. Her shouting brought notice to him as the smiling face looked back at her. Seeing how pathetic she looked standing close to his host’s unconscious body, instead of throwing her aside, he used his speed to get to the other side. “Heh, stupid girl,” the second face opened to show that of a grey haired Nemesimian.
His taunts were cut short and replaced with a horrific screech. The fury’s legs trembled slightly as it kept itself up. The mangled face closing and opening to show the face of the one who struck it. “He wished you never would come. I wised the same for different reasons…” the face hissed in a slight pant.
“I promised. But he didn’t want me anymore. No one wants me anymore. This is my curse. I don’t deserve to be happy…”
The bloodloss was getting to the creature.
”’Hurt those who hurt you, or else they will never understand what they caused.’”
A.L.1’s body slowly began to crumble as it used the last bit of it’s power to lift it’s hand.
“I’m so tired…”
The capsule closed then opened again, this time that of Rubeus’. “I will fulfil what was promised, for I no longer wish to be me…”
“I no longer wish to be ALONE.”The faces spoke in unison as instantaneously the fingers turned into blades and went through his host’s sleeping body. In seconds A.L.1’s body completely disintegrated, along with the dream mirror that Rubeus had left behind as blood began to surround him.
He wasn’t going to wake up.
The cries of the others shook her cold. She was the reason they were in pain. She was the reason Rubeus had been suffering. The venomous truth filled her with all of the guilt that she believed had to be her own making. There was no way she could face the Nemesian Prince anymore. He counted on her aid and she failed him. Her presence had only wreaked havoc. And as far as she knew she may have destroyed any hopes of his clan members finding happiness.
“I’m so tired… … … I no longer wish to be ALONE.”
Feeling an energy fade, Cosmos looked up to see the fury shove it’s blade-shaped fingers into Rubeus’s unconscious form, eliciting the widening of her eyes. When minutes seemed like hours and seconds like minutes, she saw nothing but the disintegration of A.L.1 and the passing of a life. Her breath hitched at her throat as she failed to let out a cry.
“No..” With the bit of energy left, she slowly picked herself up. “…no..” A foot moved forward. It was a repeat. The swift taking of a life. To never see their loving face again. Their being having been ripped out of existence. It was happening all over again. Berthier’s presence did not cross her mind as she moved closer.
Cosmos threw herself and arms around his bloody form, cradling him like a mother would to a child and uncaring of the crimson that stained her fuku. Immediately her hands went to work, as she attempted to close the bleeding wounds. The light of her powers flickered a few times. But nothing was happening. She tried again and again, feeling herself become sick. No healing could be done. It would be too late for her to wait it out and try again. He was already gone.
She shook him once. Nothing. She shook him again. The tears were flooding her nacre orbs. “Please tell me you hate me. Tell me that you wish me dead!” She desperately uttered. When there was no response, Cosmos whimpered as water drops fell from her face. “Pleeaasee..”
Her shoulders shivered as her tearful pleading continued. “I’ll get you a new pack of cig-arettes! They’ll be on me!! I-I pro-mise that I will! Just.. please open your eyes to me!” She hopelessly sobbed and buried her face into his bloody chest. All her pain she had been enduring was pouring into her muffled cries. This has to be a nightmare. It had to end. She just needed to wake up.
With eyes clenched shut, the pale woman rocked with him, clutching him tighter. Every fiber of her being desired to see his gorgeous rubies look back at her, whether hateful or loving. The sound of his breathing. A twitch of a finger. Any sign of life. His Black Moon insignia glaring back at her. When neither of those came, she felt herself lose it.
“Ru-Ru-……RUBEUS!!!!” Cosmos screamed to the heavens.
